What is an AI Audience?

An AI Audience tracks hard-to-detect buying triggers by researching the public web for companies that match what you describe. Unlike the fixed audience sources (hiring, web visits, tech stack), an AI Audience lets you define exactly what “in-market” looks like for your product. Avina’s research looks across sources such as:
  • Company blogs, product updates, and changelogs
  • Feature, documentation, and careers pages
  • Press releases and news coverage
  • Earnings calls, investor materials, and SEC filings
  • Community forums and public FAQs
Every company Avina finds is checked against its own website and the pages Avina cites, so you get real companies with evidence for why they matched.

Why AI Audiences matter

  • Uncover buying motion other tools miss. Detect changes that never show up in traditional intent data.
  • Replace guesswork with proof. Each lead comes with the public evidence behind it.
  • Precision over volume. Fewer accounts, with much higher deal potential.
  • Message with context. Outreach is grounded in something the company actually said or shipped.
  • Great for new categories. Ideal when no standard signal exists for your market yet.

Writing the query

You describe the audience in the Query box. Avina also turns any description you type on the Home page or in Create Audience into a query for you.
  • Write up to 5 bullet points, each up to 950 characters.
  • Each bullet is a separate requirement, and a company must match all of them. To allow alternatives, put them in one bullet with “or”, for example “Uses Snowflake or Databricks”.
  • If you mention a time frame, such as “in the past 3 months”, Avina uses it as the lookback window automatically.
Example query:
  • B2B SaaS companies with 50–500 employees
  • Announced a migration off a legacy data warehouse in the last 90 days
  • Headquartered in North America
Don’t split one idea across bullets. “Exclude consulting firms” belongs in the same bullet that describes the type of company you want, not in a new bullet.
The query is your qualification criteria, so AI Audiences don’t have a separate AI Qualification Criteria field.

Examples of high-intent AI Audiences

  • Companies announcing they are:
    • Exploring internal AI copilots
    • Replatforming their data infrastructure
    • Migrating off legacy security tooling
    • Overhauling customer support workflows
  • Companies launching:
    • A beta AI assistant
    • A new analytics layer
    • A v2 developer API
  • Companies whose earnings calls mention operational inefficiencies or manual workflows at scale
  • Companies whose 10-K discloses new data security or compliance risk

How AI Audiences work

  1. Define the audience. Describe the buying trigger in the Query box.
  2. Preview. Click Preview Audience to see a sample of matching companies before you commit.
  3. Activate. Avina searches daily and adds up to your Target number of leads per day (1–50, default 10).
  4. Verify and grade. Each company is checked against its own site and cited pages, then graded A–F against your ICP.
  5. Find contacts. Avina finds and enriches contacts at each company based on your personas.
  6. Act. Leads appear in the audience’s Leads tab and the Activity Feed, and can flow into automations.
Each AI Audience lead costs 2 credits. See Credits & Billing.

High-value plays

  • Hyper-personalized outbound: enroll leads in an AI Sequence that references the exact trigger.
  • Real-time Slack alerts: post new matches to a channel with a Send a Slack Message automation.
  • CRM routing: push matched accounts and contacts to your CRM with Push Audience Match to CRM.
  • Ad retargeting: download matched accounts with Export Ad Audience and upload them to LinkedIn, Meta, or Google.

Tags

Every AI Audience lead written to your CRM carries the avina_custom_ai_signal tag, plus a tag named after the audience itself (avina_{your_audience_name}_signal), so you can segment on one specific audience or on all of them.
