# Personas

> Tell Avina who to find at each company, and how many contacts to enrich per lead.

**Personas** describe the people you sell to. When an audience finds a matching company, Avina searches for contacts that fit each persona and enriches them with emails and, if you want, phone numbers. A single lead can bring back several contacts, such as a VP of Sales and a RevOps lead at the same company. Each one shows as its own row in the [Activity Feed](https://docs.avina.io/features/signals-feed.md).

Manage personas in **Settings → Personas**.

***

## Create a persona

1. Go to **Settings → Personas** and click **Add New Persona**.
2. Fill in:
   * **Name:** for example, "Sales Leadership".
   * **Target titles:** the job titles to search for, in priority order. Type a title and press **Enter**, and drag titles to reorder them. A persona with no titles is skipped.
   * **Number of contacts to find:** how many people to find for this persona on each lead, from 1 to 100.
   * **Enrich emails:** on by default.
   * **Enrich phone numbers:** off by default. Each phone number found costs 4 credits.
3. Changes save automatically.

You can have up to **10 personas** per workspace.

> [!TIP]
>
> Rank titles from most to least preferred. When **Number of contacts to find** is 1, Avina returns the best match it can find, working down your list.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If **Turn off contact title search** is on in **Settings → Enrichment**, audiences don't search for persona contacts at all. **Find & Enrich** in the Activity Feed still works.

***

## When no persona matches

Under **When no persona matches**, choose what Avina does when none of your personas find anyone at a company:

* **Fall back to business email:** use the company's general contact email.
* **Fall back to business phone:** use the company's general phone number.

If both are off, the lead arrives without a contact. You can still look someone up later with [Find & Enrich](https://docs.avina.io/features/signals-feed.md#find-and-enrich-a-contact).

***

## Use personas in an audience

On an audience's **Configure** tab, under **Which contacts should we find and enrich?**:

* **Personas:** choose which personas this audience searches for. All of them are selected by default.
* **Use a custom persona:** enter titles for this audience only, with its own email, phone, and business-contact fallback settings.

See [Which contacts to find](https://docs.avina.io/features/ai-signals-agent.md#which-contacts-to-find).

## Credits

At each company, the first contact is included in the lead's credit cost. Each additional contact costs 1 credit, and each phone number found costs 4 credits. Raising **Number of contacts to find** or turning on phone enrichment can increase your credit use quickly. See [Credits & Billing](https://docs.avina.io/platform/credits.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Avina only searches for contacts at companies that meet the **Minimum ICP grade** in **Settings → Enrichment**, so a low-fit lead may arrive without a contact.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you use the [Avina MCP connector](https://docs.avina.io/integrations/claude-mcp.md), your AI assistant can also limit a persona to people located in specific countries.
