# Lob Integration

> Send postcards and letters to new leads with Lob direct mail.

## Overview

The Lob integration lets Avina mail a physical postcard or letter to each new lead's company. Connect your Lob account, then add the **Send Direct Mail** action to an [automation](https://docs.avina.io/features/automations.md). Avina sends one piece per lead using the templates and return addresses in your Lob account.

## Before you start

In your Lob account, set up:

* **Templates** for your postcard fronts and backs, or for your letter
* **Return addresses** (required for letters and for postcards mailed outside the US)

Avina reads these from Lob, so anything you add in Lob shows up in the automation builder.

## Setup

1. Go to **Settings → Integrations** in Avina.
2. Select **Lob**.
3. Connect **Write** and follow the prompts to authorize your Lob account.

## Sending direct mail from an automation

1. [Create an automation](https://docs.avina.io/features/automations.md) and choose the audience and filters.
2. Under **Then…**, choose **Send Direct Mail**.
3. Choose **Postcard** or **Letter**:
   * **Postcard:** pick a size (4x6, 6x9, or 6x11), a front template, and a back template. A return address is optional.
   * **Letter:** pick a template and a return address.
4. Activate the automation.

## How it's delivered

* **Where it goes:** each piece is mailed to the lead's **company headquarters**, addressed to the lead's contact when Avina has one.
* **Address checks:** US addresses are verified before sending. If an address can't be found or isn't deliverable, the lead is marked **Failed** in the automation's enrollments with the reason.
* **International mail:** postcards to addresses outside the US must be 4x6 and need a return address.
* **One piece per lead:** each lead is mailed at most once per automation.
