# Slack Messages

> Post leads that pass an automation's filters to a Slack channel.

The **Send a Slack Message** action posts each matching lead to the Slack channel you choose. It uses the same message format as Avina's regular Slack alerts.

Use it to send only some leads to a channel, such as A-grade pricing page visitors to `#hot-leads`, instead of every lead from an audience.

## How it works

1. Connect Slack in **Settings → Integrations**. See [Slack](https://docs.avina.io/integrations/slack/overview.md).
2. In the automation's **Then…** step, choose **Send a Slack Message**.
3. Pick the channel. The Avina app must be in that channel.
4. Activate the automation.

## Slack messages vs. audience notifications

| | Audience notifications | Send a Slack Message automation |
| - | - | - |
| **Set up in** | The audience's **⋯ → Notification Settings**, or your default alert channel | An automation |
| **Which leads** | Every lead from that audience | Only leads that pass the automation's filters |
| **Best for** | Keeping a team channel informed | Routing high-priority leads to the right people |

For Microsoft Teams, use **Send a Microsoft Teams Message**. See [Microsoft Teams](https://docs.avina.io/integrations/microsoft-teams/overview.md).
